Most of my posts lately involve careers in the medical field. Let me tell you a nice career that also belongs to the health care industry. An Ultrasound Technician usually is responsible for looking thru the womb of the mother. If you plan to become an ultrasound tech, there are ultrasound schools available for you either on a 2-year program or a 4-year program. The average income of ultrasound techs are around $50,000 per year.

Being an ultrasound technician is a great career, but fyi, looking at babies in a mother's womb is a very small part of what we do. Depending on where you work, you'll mostly scan organs in the abdomen (liver, gallbladder, kidneys, spleen, pancreas, etc.) and pelvis (prostate, ovaries, non-pregnant uterus), vasculature (carotid arteries for plaque, leg veins for thrombi), small soft tissue organs (thyroid, scrotum) and the heart. Obstetrics probably makes up less than 20% of cases.

I highly recommend ultrasound as a career, just make sure you know what you're getting yourself into!
